Social entrepreneurship is a non-profit social entrepreneur action that aims to provide social benefits.

Social entrepreneurship targets social impact primarily

The primary characteristics of social entrepreneurs are that they focus on social goals.

Depending on the type of earnings, social enterprises can be found in three different structures:
(i) entirely charitable, (ii) fully commercial (iii) partially commercial and partially charitable hybrid businesses.

Based on their legal form and revenue sources, social enterprises can be divided into four categories: leveraged non-profits, enterprising non-profits, hybrid enterprises, and social businesses

A leveraged non-profit is one that does not have an income-earning strategy but has secured sustainable partnerships and funding to move beyond the traditional donor-dependent model.

An enterprising non-profit is a registered nonprofit organization with a strategy for earning a part or all of its income and thus recouping a portion or all of its costs. 

A hybrid enterprise combines aspects of the forprofit and non-profit legal models, either through an innovative legal structure or by using a for-profit subsidiary to support the social activities of the non-profit.

A social enterprise that is a registered forprofit company is called a social business.

Social entrepreneurship consists of creating social value, seeing opportunities that create social value, having a social vision and mission, being innovative, and creating resources-sustainability.

Creating social value means contributing to society and producing solutions to social problems.

There are 5 components of Social Enterprise.

Social and economic benefits generated by social entrepreneurs and serving the goal of economic development can be listed as follows;
• Generating employment and increasing the quality of jobs,
• Creating new products and services in the fields of social and economic development,
• Raising social capital by creating relationships based on trust,
• Supporting equality to distribute all the resources of the society fairly,
• Developing an innovative approach to achieve sustainable development goals.

The most important among the capital created by social entrepreneurs can be considered as social capital.

Social capital includes elements such as trust, mutual relations network, reputation, and cooperation.

According to the virtuous circle of social capital, a social entrepreneur who wants more individuals and institutions to benefit from his/her project should first use and increase his/her social capital to expand the network of cooperation and trust.

Projects with content that promotes equal opportunities are another area in which social entrepreneurship activities are concentrated. Social entrepreneurship supports that society has a structure where all resources are distributed with a more egalitarian approach. 

Sustainable development is the process of creating opportunities that enable individuals and society to realize their desires and demostrate their potential within a sustainable period while maintaining the flexibility of economic, social, and environmental systems.

Sustainable development will only occur in societies where resources are allocated responsibly, individuals’ rights are protected, institutions are trusted, and risks are shared in the construction of entrepreneurial initiatives.

Social enterprises serve the sustainable development purpose of the products and services required to meet the basic needs of individuals, to activate the structures of their communities, and to maximize the preferences of future
generations.
