Why Bother to Write Well: The Power of Language

I, II, III are the correct ones. Because in the book the paragraph states;

It is crucial to develop your writing skills since they provide you with power. Writing properly
helps you reach your objectives, whether they are to succeed academically, get and maintain a decent career, or just to express yourself clearly. 

Pre-writing stage is important to avoid an off-topic, too generic, too narrow, badly developed essays. 

All of the steps are essential before putting words into paper. The book states that "Experienced authors are aware that before they can start writing, they must first carefully understand the task to ensure that they comprehend what is expected from them. The next step is to specify the subject
and decide on the writing context, which contains determining the purpose, audience, and tone. Then, it is usually followed by generating a main idea, which further requires examples, details, and explanations to support your argument in it. Let us go step by step to better explain the initial steps in writing."

Writing actually starts by reading. It is a natural process.  If you
want to write well, you should read as much as you can before you start writing. 

Reading helps the writer;

-to know the content and form background

-read and understand the task specifications, which is the first step of the actual writing process.

understanding the task prompt is highly related to understanding the topic
and it is a really complex process with many points to consider.

You should focus on the similarities between two or more topics.

You should  focus on the differences between two or more concepts.

You should provide a range of viewpoints on, emphasise, or detail a concept.

You should inquire into one or more components of a subject.

You should clearly state, provide support for, or provide a step-by-step analysis of a subject.

You should briefly summarise the key ideas of a topic or article.

In order to provide a proof, you need to prove your claims. In order to prove, you should support a claim with evidence and you should persuade the reader that it is like that. 

In order to narrow down the topic, you will;
- set a limit to the topic to a broad topic,

-focus on something you can discuss in a paragraph or brief essay. 

-unwind the topic and concentrate on the subject,

-explore your knowledge, and identify the topics you wish to write about.

You should examine your writing goal, your intended audience, and the tone you want to utilise while determining the writing context

Because the tone and the audience all depends on the purpose of writing. In order to be able to generate the main ideas, a writer should know the purpose, audience and the tone. Once the main idea is generated, supporting ideas follow.

III, V

Brainstorming, clustering, dividing, free writing, list making are all for generating ideas.

IV, II, I, III, V

Because the process starts with understanding the task.In order to understand the task, we have keep in mind the three points, which are the task prompt, text length and due date. The next thing to do is to understand the topic. That is, are we required to analyze, compare, contrast etc.? Once we understand the task and the topic, we start narrowing down the topic because it is impossible to write about something too general. Then, we generate the main ideas and the ideas which will support the  main idea.

I, III, IV

The conclusion is the last sentence of the paragraph. It, therefore, can;

- sum up the paragraph by reminding the reader of the main idea

- interprets the significance of the supporting ideas.

-give suggestions or steps to be followed

-provide your own stance

-outline the issue if possible.

But whatever you do, you cannot start a new argument.

Descriptive Paragraph because in a descriptive paragraph,  the writer uses one or more
of the five senses (smell, taste, hearing, touch, and sight) to create a word image of a person,
place, or item. Because it aids the reader in seeing the people, locations, or things being described,
description is helpful in a variety of writing genres. 

Narrative paragraph

A story concerning a sequence of events is told by the author via narration.  narratives follow a chronological order and respond to the following six fundamental journalistic questions: What, Why, When, Who, Where, and How? Because the author is relaying a personal experience, narration frequently uses the first person

An expository paragraph. In an expository paragraph, the writer goes over a basic idea or supports a general statement using definitions or examples. Definitions and explanations are not general or abstract; they are precise and detailed. They define, clarify, or introduce a basic idea. An expository paragraph usually includes examples (also including illustrations) and definitions.

The introduction has three objectives:

1.It identifies the precise subject of the essay.
2. It might include a list of the main topic’s subtopics.
3. The organisation strategy might be mentioned.

Body paragraphs  of the essay contain  topic sentence and many supporting sentences. Each body paragraph can have a topic sentence and its supporting sentences.  The thesis statement is
supported by each body paragraph.

The conclusion/ the concluding paragraph has 3 objectives.  
1. It denotes the conclusion of the essay.
2. It serves as a reminder to the reader of your key points.
3. It concludes with your last observations on the subject.
